AMBIKAPUR: ST. XAVIER’S RESIDENCE

December 2025 proved to be a truly enriching and memorable month at St. Xavier’s Institution, Ambikapur, blending cultural vibrancy, academic diligence, artistic expression, and the warm spirit of Christmas. The month’s centrepiece was the exuberant celebration of Xavier Day, which beautifully united the three units-the Hindi Medium School, English Medium School, and B.Ed. College-in a grand display of talent and togetherness. The event was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Prabodh Minj, MLA of Lundra Assembly Constituency; Guest of Honour Hon’ble Smt. Manjusha Bhagat, Mayor of Ambikapur Municipal Corporation, and esteemed special guests, Rt. Rev. Bishop Dr. Antonis Bara, Bishop of Ambikapur Diocese, and Rev. Fr. Dr. Alfred Toppo SJ, Provincial of Madhya Pradesh Province. Students enthralled the audience with diverse performances, ranging from traditional folk dances such as Nagpuri, Chhattisgarhi, Karam, and Assamese-Bengali to energetic Western and Bollywood numbers, culminating in a powerful one-act play promoting the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative.

Artistic flair was further highlighted through a captivating painting compilation and art & craft exhibition on 6 December at St. Xavier’s English Medium School, where young talents proudly showcased their creativity through vivid drawings, inoovative crafts, and imaginative projects.

On the academic front, the half-yearly examinations for both Hindi and English-medium schools began smoothly on 12 December, allowing students to demonstrate their progress and dedication. The joyous Christmas season was marked by several inclusive gatherings: a lively assembly of youth from various churches on 14 December in the school playground; a heartfelt celebration for the B.Ed. students and faculty on 20 December, and a special event on 23 December is the month to honour and thank the domestic workers for their invaluable contributions. Additionally, on 26 December, schs. Poly and Pawan Lakra journeyed to Hazaribagh to participate in a meaningful spiritual Triduum, deepening their faith and formation. As the month drew to a close, the institution reflected with gratitude on these shared moments of joy, learning, and community, carrying the Ignatian spirit forward into the New Year 2026.
