Provincial Handing Over Marked with Grace and Gratitude at Loyola Niketan, Bilaspur

The Loyola Niketan community witnessed a joyful and spirit-filled Provincial Handing Over Ceremony on the morning of 24 August 2025, in the presence of consultors, superiors, and community members.

The newly appointed Provincial, Fr. Alfred Toppo, arrived at Loyola Niketan at 10:00 a.m., accompanied by Fr. Charles Kujur, Superior of Campion Jesuit Community, Raipur, and Fr. Ashok Kujur. The Jesuit community extended a warm traditional welcome, highlighted by a ceremonial hand-washing performed by Br. John Sona and his team, followed by a bouquet presentation by Fr. Ranjit Tigga.

The Holy Eucharist began at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Henry, Socius, offering an introductory note. Fr. Ranjit Tigga served as the main celebrant until the homily. In a symbolic gesture of transition, he vested Fr. Alfred Toppo with the chasuble, formally handing over the responsibility of Provincial. Fr. Alfred then continued as the main celebrant.

After the Mass, the Jesuits offered a heartfelt felicitation song. Both the outgoing and incoming Provincials were honoured with garlands and gifted saplings, symbolising growth, hope, and continuity. A PowerPoint presentation, prepared by Frs. Herman and Ashok, highlighted the dedicated service of Fr. Ranjit Tigga during his tenure.

Words of appreciation were shared by Fr. Amritlal Toppo (A) and Fr. Robert Tigga, acknowledging the outgoing Provincial and warmly welcoming the new one. Fr. Ranjit Tigga then read the official Decree from Fr. General and formally handed over the Province files and documents to Fr. Alfred Toppo.

In his farewell message, Fr. Ranjit expressed deep gratitude to the Province, his consultors, superiors, commission coordinators, unit heads, and collaborators. In his first address, Fr. Alfred thanked the community for their support and invited everyone to journey together in mission and service with renewed hope.

The ceremony concluded with a joyful fellowship meal, celebrated in an atmosphere of gratitude, unity, and shared purpose.
